What is the European Health Insurance Card?
You have to take out health insurance in your country of origin,
but you should also ask for a European Health Insurance Card.
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is free of charge,
and gives you access to medical services under the same conditions as people with Swiss health insurance.
It offers no guarantee of free treatment. It might be that in Switzerland you have to pay for medical services you don’t have to pay for in your home country.
