I’m working on a 90-day permit and have a medical emergency/accident. Where can I go?

IMPORTANT: Hospitals and accident and emergency services often require a deposit of between 500 and 1,000 Swiss francs for people without health insurance before providing treatment. If the treatment ends up costing less, you’ll be refunded the remaining amount.

If possible, go to a medical centre (walk-in) and not to a hospital. This is usually cheaper. Here you’ll have to pay the costs yourself straight away. You might then be able to reclaim these costs from your insurance company in your home country. The European Health Insurance Card is often not accepted in emergency clinics.
