What is the "Franchise" (excess)?

The excess is a set amount of money you define with your health insurance policy.
You pay part of the treatment costs yourself with this money,
and the health insurance company pays the rest.

For example:

Your excess is 2,500 Swiss francs. The health insurance company only pays if your costs over the course of one year are more than 2,500 Swiss francs. So this means that you pay the first 2,500 yourself.
Make sure you send all of your bills to the health insurance company. This will allow you and the insurance company to keep track of the costs.

You can choose the amount of the excess. If you choose a high excess, your premium will be lower.
